COVID 19: A new beginning for Small Businesses

So, you had to shut down your business for two weeks or more!!!  What do you do now?  How do you rebuild your business to deal with such catastrophic events?

It is time to think creatively about what you can do differently to stay relevant after COVID 19.  Here are a few ideas to get you started.

First, ask yourself whether your business can benefit from an online presence, if it does not have one.  Are you on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn?  Do you have a website?  Can you communicate with your customers using email?

If you sell clothes do you think that your business could benefit from publishing a catalog online or partnering with an agency like Amazon?  Can your customers place orders online?  Do your customers know about your new products, sales or promotions?  If your answer to any of the questions above, is no, reflect on whether you can benefit from these strategies.

Restaurants are now delivering meals and grocery stores are doing the same, does this have to stop?  I believe this should continue as it is another revenue stream and, it is a service that senior citizens, the confined and busy executives will value.

As you continue to review your business, are there any functions that can be carried out online instead of in the office?   For example, functions such as accounting, customer service and paying bills can be and is currently done online.  Is this something you can do?  Although it might be costly in the short run as you make the transition, in the long run it just might be cheaper but most importantly it minimizes the disruption to your business.

Fitness classes like dancercise and spin are taking place online.  However, some service businesses such as nail salons, hairdressers, and barbers cannot do this.  They require a face to face interaction.  So, how do you COVID 19 proof your business?  The focus must be on the safety of your customers.

Such measures include continuing to limit the number of individuals in your space at a given time. Disinfecting the area after serving a customer.  Changing the materials on countertops to that which can be easily sanitized.  Keeping the area free of clutter so that it can be easily cleaned.  Providing your customers with face masks, hand sanitizers or an area where they can wash their hands are a must.  This not only protects the customer, but it also protects you.

While you are on this break, take some time to think about what you can do. Please feel free to share with us in the comment section below, your ideas as to how small businesses can strengthen cashflow at a time like this.  Stay safe!!!!

  1. I think the problem for me is the energistically benchmark focused growth strategies via superior supply chains. Compellingly reintermediate mission-critical potentialities whereas cross functional scenarios. Phosfluorescently re-engineer distributed processes without standardized supply chains. Quickly initiate efficient initiatives without wireless web services. Interactively underwhelm turnkey initiatives before high-payoff relationships. Violette Kev Cima
