Why don’t People buy?

“I have this excellent product/service!  It’s affordable, but no one is buying it.  I don’t get it!”  What am I doing wrong?

Some say, “It’s too expensive!” Should I lower my price?

No way! Some people may have lost their job, or their expenses increased and they cannot afford your product/service. Lowering your price is not going to make them your customer.  So, what do you do?  Nothing.  Why?  They are not your customer.

Secondly, I can’t count the number of times I have stumbled across a clothing store or a restaurant that I didn’t know existed. So, let me ask you, do people know about you?  If they don’t know about your business or what you have to offer, it makes sense that they won’t be buying your product/service.

Thirdly, I may not buy your product because of my belief system.   Are you going to spend money trying to change my beliefs so that I can become your customer?  That sounds ridiculous.

For example, if I am a vegan and your restaurant offers only meat dishes, there is nothing you can do to make me your customer unless you adjust your menu to cater to my needs and communicate that to me.

Now Iet’s say that I know about your business and I know what you offer, but I have doubts, and misconceptions and I believe that your product/service cannot meet my needs.    Once again, it boils down to communication.   Demonstrations, testimonials, and reviews help dispel false beliefs, doubts, and concerns and can convert doubting Thomases into buying customers.

Let’s wrap up!

  • If I don’t know about you, I am not going to buy
  • If I don’t know what you offer, I am not going to buy
  • If I don’t know how your product/service will benefit me, I am not going to buy
  • If I believe your product cannot meet my needs, I am not going to buy
  • If your product does not fit into my belief system, I am not going to buy

Lastly some people are not your customer.

Take some time and analyze your situation; there may be steps that you can take right now to improve it. I wish you much success.
